Smile – Day 26 – Living in the past or future means you’re dead to the present moment.
We are on the homestretch, and today is another perfect day to fully live and be thankful!
The question is, what will you concentrate on today??
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” – Oprah Winfrey
So concentrate on what you have.
“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.” – Epictetus
Dr, Seuss must have learned from Epictetus right? Remember how he told us to ‘smile because it happened’?
We always have the choice…we get to choose where we direct our thoughts.
And there is ALWAYS a positive side to things.
I hope you are feeling a perpetual attitude of gratitude growing stronger in your life by now.
This is so important to your happiness and joy.
And it’s also extremely beneficial to your progress and growth, and the achievement of everything your heart desires.
Because when you are not grateful, you are living in a state of resistance, pushing away everything you most deeply want…love, peace, joy.
And that’s not even mentioning material blessings and prosperity that have at least some pull in everyone’s heart since we all have basic physical needs.
The personal development trainer Brian Tracy said:
“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” – Brian Tracy
Did you notice he said ‘give thanks for everything’?
I don’t hear him excluding the trials and tribulations there.
It is so important to view everything that happens in your life as a gift…and I know how hard that can be sometimes.
But making the choice to take that stance is one of the most important decisions you can ever make.
It’s the choice to believe that “Everything Is Conspiring For Your Benefit.”
And only from that point of view and perspective can you even possibly begin to express gratitude for everything that shows up in your life.
Because if you believe that some things that happen are a curse, or that some things are conspiring against you, then how can you be grateful for it?
Since we are not in conscious control of all the circumstances, that would make it impossible to live in peace….
…And that is why so many people suffer anxiety.
Because they feel out of control…because deep down there is a feeling that things out of their control are conspiring against them.
But it is absolutely possible to live in peace, anxiety can go away in an instant.
One TAL Family member Riki actually described how her long time battle with anxiety actually ended as soon as she read my book on this subject (which she read in a mere 4 hours).
She said: “I can now focus on my family and my job without the worry of this anxiety because I genuinely feel it has gone now I have read your book!”
And that happened because she realized ‘Everything Is Conspiring For Your Benefit’.
And so now she is free to express appreciation and feel deep gratitude for EVERYTHING.
Nothing to be anxious about, because everything that may happen in the future is there for your good somehow.
See how that can remove anxiety about the future?
This is a humble position to take as well as a faithful one.
It is admitting that we don’t know everything.
But even though hard things have and will happen to us, we are humble enough to accept that a higher power loves us and that we are actually powerless in and of ourselves.
But “with God all things are possible” – Mark 10:27
In other words, connected to God, we are all-powerful, and capable of amazing things.
So let us live today in gratitude so we can live in connection to the source of all power in our life.
And so we can ACTUALLY LIVE RIGHT NOW rather than going through the motions, completely DEAD to the present as we live in regret over the past or anxiety about the future.
Without gratitude we are like a body with no life.
You can’t smile and be truly happy without gratitude.
And another thing:
“God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?” – William A. Ward
Yes, start with one second of thankfulness.
Then another, and another. Until you find each second of the day filled with gratitude overflowing.
Appreciate today. Be connected to your source. Be powerful. Be humble. Be ALIVE NOW!
Make Today Amazing!
