Smile – Day 18 – Encountering the everyday epiphanies that change your life forever

Welcome to today!

Did you wake up today thrilled to be alive?

And if you weren’t thrilled when you started, did you spend time feeling deep gratitude for your amazing life?

If not, pause right now and just really quick picture 10 things you’re grateful for…I’ll wait.


Great!  Every single time you focus on gratitude you increase your enjoyment of life.

Did you feel the improvement?

Now, a few more thoughts on the importance of daily rampages of appreciation:

Your daily appreciation habit will ensure you experience your wonderful life every day as you go along!

It’s impossible not to realize a truly amazing life if you are abiding in a state of gratitude.

And another thought:    “I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” – Gilbert K. Chesterton, (English author and philosopher)

What a beautiful description.

Let’s live in gratitude today, and not just a surfacey thanks to check it off our list.

I mean allow yourself the space and the time in your day to get wrapped up in wonder, awe, and amazement at the many things you have to be thankful for.

Can we really allow a day to pass without living in that feeling?

Think of this reality…

…Is it not a tragic squandering of our precious life if we don’t regularly take advantage of that beautiful, soul-gratifying feeling of wonder and awe that is available to us 24 hours a day if we will simply direct our thoughts toward thanks.

It’s just there…waiting for us to feel and revel in any time.

So let’s revel in it!  Appreciate, and make your heart glad.

And somehow miraculously it seems your happiness positively affects everyone and everything around you also.

So keep up this habit of Appreciating deeply daily!

That is how you accomplish ‘the critical thing’ and take all things in your life with gratitude.

It really is true, when you abide in gratitude it shows up in all your actions.

It starts with the thought and effort of thankfullness.

But once you’re in that state of awe and wonder, and feeling really good, your smile comes easily, service rolls out of you as a natural byproduct, and there is a spring in your step.

It is truly amazing what happens in our actions when we move into gratitude.

Be aware today, and notice that.  Also, if you haven’t been in the habit of acting out of gratitude, allow yourself to be more aware of opportunities to smile and serve and compliment today.

Can you imagine feeling ‘transcendent moments of awe’ every single day of your life?

Well…I believe it’s possible.

The more I abide in gratitude the more I notice those moments every day.

And then the challenge becomes not taking those ‘transcendent moments’ for granted once they start happening so regularly.

I’ve found myself slipping into that personally…but it’s as simple as expressing gratitude for them to bring you right back to the present, and back to that state of awe and wonder.
