Smile – Day 10 – Smiling leads to happiness for everyone involved.
How did it go yesterday?
Did you choose to be happy?
Do you have some kind of reminder by your bed now so you immediately go to gratitude when you wake up?
Use the TAL Poster or whatever works for you, but reminders work wonders!
Now let’s move back to action for today.
You’re awake now, and hopefully you started off feeling great by expressing gratitude.
If not?? If you feel down or lethargic? Stop right now and get some gratitude going one.
OK, so what’s next?
Remember to appreciate through your ACTIONS today by smiling. It’s simple and leads to a bunch of goodness.
Mother Teresa said this on the importance of smiling:
“Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” – Mother Teresa
A smile is rooted in gratitude, appreciation and love.
Sometimes it will be hard to do this, when you are not particularly feeling love for yourself for example.
Which is usually at the root of why you might feel off, or down, or sad.
We tend to blame our circumstances for us feeling down…like…”aargh…if that person would just not do that”, or “nothing’s going my way”.
But if we dig deeper that ‘casting the blame’ outward is generally our ego’s defense mechanism…what’s really going on is we don’t feel good about ourself usually.
And so it’s really hard to smile, give love out, etc.
But that is where APPRECIATION comes in and turns things around.
That is where we stop, forget the past, and direct our attention to even just one thing we have to appreciate right now.
That starts the wheel turning the other way…gives us one thing we CAN smile about.
Another thought from Norman Vincent Peale:
“Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.” – Norman Vincent Peale
Did you notice how he said “give” everyone a smile?
A smile is a gift you give to others.
It’s an act of service.
So figure out something to be thankful for so you can genuinely smile, then start dishing it out!
Smiles are service, plus they are contagious, and they will change your world.
Smiling leads to happiness for everyone involved.
This practice you are cultivating is a spiritual development.
Consciously directing your thoughts toward gratitude is a noble effort and a service to humanity, in addition to blessing your own life immensely.
So I applaud, honor, and thank you for your desire and effort to appreciate, to change your thoughts, and to SMILE.
You are amazing.
To wrap up today, Denis Waitley said this about the spiritual path you are on:
“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.” – Denis Waitley
I love how he defined Happiness as a spiritual experience, not something you own or earn.
And love and grace are the natural byproducts of the act of gratitude I think.
Gratitude is an amazing practice.
So go SMILE today!
Be grateful and create a beautiful existence today.
Make Today Amazing.
