Enjoy – Day 8 – Your confidence rises with every positive action you take (even the small ones)
Welcome to week two on the pillar of ENJOY!
Are you moving your body daily?
If so, AWESOME! KEEP IT UP. Are you feeling more joy in moving your body?
If you’re struggling to move daily, I hope this week’s messages help you examine and uncover what’s blocking you from making MOVING a priority in your life.
Just about everyone has the capability to do one pushup in some form…
…even if it’s from the knees, or a standing pushup leaning against the counter top at an angle.
If you’re still not committing to this one simple it’s time to confront the question, why?
And then root out whatever lie is getting in the way and take ACTION.
This week we’ll focus a LOT more on WHY moving your body is so critical to your JOY IN LIFE.
But if you’re still struggling to commit, I recommend forgetting about a ’30 day commitment’ and just make a RIGHT NOW ONLY commitment to simply take action now.
Seriously, if you haven’t taken action yet, you have the time right now. Just pause this and do one pushup to prove to yourself you can and will do it.
Then tomorrow you can think about tomorrow…forget the future, the future is where all the overwhelm lives.
Once you’re in motion though, feel free to increase the movement as much as you like.
“I’ve just always felt it’s an incredibly empowering thing, particularly for young women, to capitalize on their coordination and their strength. It’s a very empowering thing to feel strong in your body.” – Alanis Morissette
Starting with one pushup daily is the simplest way I’ve heard of to ensure you are strengthening your body daily.
I personally started the daily one pushup challenge last week, and I will definitely say it has been empowering…and enjoyable.
“True enjoyment comes from activity of the mind and exercise of the body; the two are ever united.” – Wilhelm von Humboldt
I didn’t make this stuff up you know! People through the ages have agreed that moving our body is a huge source of joy.
And why is strengthening and moving the body so empowering?
He who rules himself rules over the whole world. – Vinoba Bhave
Part of why it’s so empowering to move is because your soul clearly sees it is in control of your physical body, to direct it at will.
The feeling of confidence gained from that moves into every other area of life.
Here’s my experience with the ‘one pushup challenge’:
In the past my routine has been pushups and pullups 3 days a week, but I frequently missed and only ended up with one day, sometimes none.
I generally run each day…but I was missing that core muscle strengthening quite often.
Having the new goal to do ONE pushup and ONE pull-up every day is feeling AWESOME!
It’s easily done it because it’s so simple!
And some days it turns into three or four sets of pushups and pullups.
Every time if I do the one, I end up doing at least 10 or 20 of each because I’m already in motion anyway.
The result so far??
My body feels stronger and more energized every single day, and I’m already noticing a difference in feeling less flabby.
I feel more confident, and I’m enjoying life slightly more than before.
Plus it just feels good to win every day!
Because I’m not setting a huge or even moderate exercise expectation on myself, I’m free to live in celebration mode instead of self-criticism/self-condemnation mode.
It’s a subtle change that is powerfully effective at boosting mental confidence and overall health in general.
People who believe they have the power to exercise some measure of control over their lives are healthier – Albert Bandura
So how do you get that faith in your own power?
Start small!! Start NOW. Take action and MOVE your body.
Even ONE PUSHUP is an action that shows your body that YOU are in control.
Action begets faith and deepens belief.
There’s a lot more to say on expectations…but we’ll get into it tomorrow.
Make Today Amazing!
