Think – Day 26 – You are free to choose! So why not choose Amazing?!

Yesterday I spoke of the analogy of how your thoughts are just little hinges…seemingly insignificant or unnoticeable when compared to the door of your life – everything you can see and notice.

But without the hinges the door is dead.

We’ve talked a lot this week about the importance of choosing your thoughts. You do indeed get to choose.

And since we are choosing anyway…why settle for mediocre, or even good?

Really…why not choose amazing?

What do I mean by that?

Why not seek out the best possible thoughts? The best books, the best friends, the best environments?

Why settle for ‘good enough’, when there is amazing out there to be experienced?

Remember the truth…This is A Truly Amazing Life. Not just a ‘good life’.

You deserve amazing because YOU are amazing!

God doesn’t create less than amazing…there is no person on this planet who was created with only ‘mediocre’ genes.

Genius and amazingness are in each of us.

But in order to see that we must first BELIEVE it.

Then believing it…act accordingly and fill our thoughts and our lives with the amazing that surrounds us everywhere.

I will borrow a few lines from my ’32 year old’ self for this occasion, written in ‘The Positive Thinking Secret’:

“Regardless of your circumstances you can choose which thoughts to entertain.”

“Stop rationalizing and making excuses for mediocrity and
start deciding and choosing excellence right now!”

“You are amazing, despite what you sometimes think. Don’t believe everything your mind thinks.” – Me J

Remember…your mind is influenced by many sources.

Just because there’s a thought persisting up in those vast recesses of your mind…doesn’t mean it’s true!

Most of us are experts at claiming we are honest and then outright lying to ourselves.

But let’s forgive ourselves for that! We all do it and it’s part of our learning process as humans.

Don’t believe this applies to you? Have you ever thought, “I’m not good enough”?

Yep…thought so. Guess what? We ALL have at one point or another.

And guess what else??

THAT’S A LIE.

But sometimes, no matter how many times we flush the lie down, our minds eventually regurgitate it and spew that nasty lie all around again and it can be so easy to just believe it.

The fact is, you repeat a thing enough and you will have a hard time NOT believing it.

The good news is this works both ways…that’s why positive affirmations are so powerful and essential!

The truth is YOU ARE ALWAYS GOOD ENOUGH.

You were born good enough, you have a purpose to fulfill, and in fact you are THE ONLY ONE ‘good enough’ to fulfill it.

So keep flushing down that lie, no matter how much it persists.

And don’t believe everything you think. You get to choose what you believe!

“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of Hell, a hell of Heaven.” – John Milton

I’m certain you have experienced ‘hell on earth’ at some point.

And I’m also certain that it was created in your own mind. Because that’s how it works.

Remember what we learn from Viktor Frankl. He also said: “In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice.” – Viktor Frankl

Even in horrendous circumstances that appear ‘hellish’ in every way…people like Viktor Frankl have found joy, peace and a bit of heaven on earth…

…by the simple act of looking for and finding the meaning, and thus the beauty, in the circumstance.

Man is the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny” – James Allen.

So today, after you meditate, take a moment to think about your thoughts.

Feel free to jettison any that aren’t serving you…you aren’t required to keep on believing lies.

Then think about this: “how will I feed my mind truth in any way possible?”

I’ve been loving the ‘Pause Practice’ – the alarms going off on my phone with an affirmation of truth have proven to be wonderful ways of re-focusing my awareness.

They are my little healthy thought snack…like munching on a carrot or some celery instead of eating junk food.

It just feels good to feed the mind true and positive thoughts.

Be intentional today! Make Today Amazing!
