Succeed – Day 20 – The ONE AND ONLY way to success that nobody wants to hear

We’ve been talking about success for three weeks now – and it’s high time we get into one of the most essential parts of success: FAILURE!

Failing is critical to success

What I hope you come away with in the next two days is a newfound love for failure.

Yep…that’s right…I literally think you should learn to LOVE failing!

And I believe you can.

Many of us are hard-wired and programmed to DESPISE failure.

I know I am – my natural reaction is to hate it – and do everything I can to avoid it.

So today’s message may be more for me than anyone! I know I am a work in progress.

There is amazing value in reframing the way we look at failure…so let’s explore this…

…WHY SHOULD WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE FAILURE?!?

The reality is, without failure success would be impossible….and you love success right? So start loving failure!

More failure = more success!!

I’M COMPLETELY SERIOUS.

To progressively realize a worthy goal requires many failed attempts.

You simply cannot learn what is required to accomplish your goal without trying and failing many times…that is the process of life, for EVERYONE who accomplishes anything great.

The most vocal example I know of this is the great inventor Thomas Edison who said: “I have not failed 10,000 times. I have successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.”

There was a man with the right attitude about failing.

Any scientist or inventor understands intimately that creation and discovery is accomplished through learning from failed attempts.

Edison simply chose to see every single attempt as being ONE STEP CLOSER to his worthy goal!

He was creating a light bulb. He was VERY clear on his worthy goal.

With every attempt he made, he was one step closer to eliminating all the ways that would NOT work.

He epitomized a wise understanding of the definition of success.

The British Author Robert Louis Stevenson said: “Our business in life is not to succeed, but to continue to fail in good spirits.”

Clearly he understood this same principle.

Tell yourself “I love failing, because that means I’m trying, and learning, and that is the only way to make progress.”

There’s no use avoiding failure.

If you never fail you can never succeed. You are simply blocked in your progress if you are unwilling to fail.

To fail is NOT the same as being a failure.

To BE a failure is only possible if you completely give up and refuse to try anymore at anything.

It’s pretty common for us to believe the lies flying around inside that say, “You’re a failure”.

But it’s not true!

You may have failed in a business attempt, a relationship attempt, or a ‘weight-loss’ attempt, or any other attempt!

But YOU are not a failure.

Try not to personalize failure and embrace it as who you are…that’s a major root of unhappiness. You have my permission to let that go;)

If you ever start feeling horrible…look for the failure lie inside and reject it!

Because quite the opposite is true actually!

When you put forth an effort and fail – you are immediately successful because you just learned one more way that won’t work.

That is progress.

Quite often I must admit it takes me 4 or 5 of the exact same failures before the lesson finally sinks in to my hard heart and thick skull.

But you know what?? I can deal with that…because I know I will eventually learn…so the quicker I can get on with the failing, the quicker I’ll get to my goal!

You are probably not as thick skulled as me…I may have some strangely high pain tolerance for beating my head against the same brick wall or something…

…But if you are like me…don’t worry! We eventually learn.

The point is, failure is your friend!

Failure is the companion of success.

If you want to succeed, you need to embrace failing…they come in the same package.

Here’s one of my favorite quotes of all-time, “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of on an equal or greater benefit.” – Napoleon Hill

So often we spend our days cursing failure in our heads, feeling dejected and hurt when things don’t work out how we hoped, when the truth is everything is conspiring for our benefit.

That failure literally contains the seed, the learning, and the opportunity for amazing things…beyond your comprehension.

Like Edison…let’s celebrate every failed attempt and view it for what it truly is, the SUCCESS of PROGRESS.

Succeed – Day 21 – Rest Day

We’ll explore this more in two days…but until then, make it a point to celebrate your failings as the success they truly are.

Honor them and learn from them.

And don’t bother beating yourself up when you do the same silly thing 4 times…

…Instead laugh about! It’s actually pretty funny!

And laughing removes resistance. It opens you up to finding a way around the brick wall.

Make Today Amazing!
