Smile – Day 25 – If you are ungrateful are you truly alive?

Are you feeling deeply grateful these days?

I really hope so.

Regardless, the practice of appreciation and gratitude is a habit you’ll want to take with you the rest of your life.

I hope appreciation is becoming second nature to you now.

But please realize that you will want to keep up this practice, adding it into your daily routine forever.

Don’t let it slide away after we remove our focus at the end of this month.

To help you keep this, and all the other habits of a Truly Amazing Life front and center in your mind throughout the year, I have created a simple one page tool checklist.

I referenced this checklist earlier this month, called The Truly Amazing Morning, but this is an enhanced version for you.

Because we are stacking the TAL habits on top of each other, and they are starting to add up, it’s helpful to have a checklist to remind ourselves.

Also, I’ve set this up in a weekly calendar format so you can hold yourself accountable.

There is something really powerful about physically checking off a box and seeing that record as a permanent fixture in your physical world.

It brings your habits to the front of your awareness, and gives them importance in your mind.

I have found that using this weekly checklist has greatly enhanced my life by helping me keep my TAL habits strong.

So enjoy this tool…we’ll be using it all year long as we continue to stack up 12 habits of a TAL on top of each other.

Some of the habits here may not make sense to you yet…just use those that make sense and we’ll enhance on each of these as the year goes on.

And for some more motivation today on the habit of APPRECIATE:

That is a strong statement!

And whether it’s ‘true’ or not, I can’t prove.

But I can say that I FEEL alive in every moment my heart is conscious of my treasures.

And I definitely DON’T feel alive and well when I am focused on what I lack.

So I do like the statement, and I think we should focus on LIVING OUR LIFE RIGHT NOW!

We are fully alive when we are ‘conscious of our treasures’.

So SAY THANK YOU, and you will immediately become conscious of the amazing gifts and miracles in your life.

And it’s most often the littlest things that are the most important to be thankful for:

The laugh of your child.

A hug from your partner.

A smile from a stranger.

The small opportunity to serve another in some way.

The fact that you just breathed inward and your body was filled with oxygen to give you another precious moment on this planet.

These may seem like little things…but imagine if your entire day was filled with wonder, gratitude and awe, so that your heart felt it would burst with joy by the end…

That is a real possibility today.

You are the master of your fate, you get to decide what you focus on, and there are MYRIAD of blessings all around you all day long that you can choose to focus on.

So don’t get hung up on your debts or lacks.  Acknowledge them, then shift your focus to gratitude.

Even expressing gratitude for the beauty of the fact that you are aware and not ignorant of areas you can improve and grow.

I’m going to keep beating this drum for you with different beats until the month is up.

It’s too important, and every new angle, and every new way you hear it drives home the point deeper.

But we’ll finish with this for today:

Every day is a new day.

Today you have the power to change everything through appreciation.

The past is done, you can’t change it.

The future doesn’t exist.

All that matters is right now.  This day.

Today you can APPRECIATE!

Appreciate with feeling right now!  Smile throughout the day.  And appreciate in writing at night.
