Enjoy – Day 10 – Movement sparks life and growth

Yesterday we talked about expectations, which can be a TRICKY subject.

But especially when creating habits, small expectations are key.

Here’s the shortest way I can explain the best practice with expectations:

Expect only small things today of yourself and others…but expect GREAT BIG things to happen over time…just don’t get hung up on how much time.

That’s really the essence of the principle, “By small and simple things, are great things brought to pass”.

It’s energizing and life-giving to have BIG EXPECTATIONS of the future…a bright hope and a BIG BELIEF of what is possible.

That is the essence of FAITH: take small, daily action with the belief that amazing things will happen.

So be kind to yourself and have faith by expecting small things today and big things for the future.

You are laying the foundation for great things.

So…speaking of bright hope for the future…what’s your vision for your health and enjoyment of life?

Have you written down your ideal day?  How does it feel?

What kind of movement do you do and what food do you eat on the ideal day?

It is helpful to have that vision of your ideal written down…even if it’s just a sentence or two.

Then you remind yourself daily of what you want, by reading it, and see yourself living it in your mind.

I have my vision and affirmations document in the front of my journal and I read it and picture it in my mind every day.

Here’s one part where I remind myself daily of the truth I want to experience about my body:

“Each day I move my body vigorously.  I feel strong, confident, and powerful.  I feel well rested, and energized, and renewed, and refreshed.”

Daily affirmations and visioning are different habits…we won’t focus there this month…but repeating even one affirmation each day about your daily movement ideal will contribute to establishing this habit long-term.

Now…more thoughts on WHY moving your body daily is so important:

when you listen and attend to the needs of your body, mind, and spirit  – Christy Turlington

One of your body’s PRIMARY needs is movement.

When you attend to that need, your natural beauty shines forth…both spiritually and physically.

Of course you don’t want to neglect your mind and spirit, but in truth, if you neglect your body, you are neglecting your mind and spirit…they are all interconnected.

Your health is like a 3-legged stool that cannot support you if you are missing one leg…body, mind, and spirit are equally important.

“A sound mind in a sound body is a short but full description of a happy state in this world.”  – John Locke, English philosopher

You want to be living in a ‘happy state in this world’ right?

A sound body is a HUGE help to that.

OK, so John didn’t mention the ‘spirit’, but he may have been lumping that in with ‘sound mind’…either way, body, mind and spirit are all connected…and they’re ALL important to attend to.

You are not going to have a ‘sound body’ if you neglect it by rarely moving it vigorously.

Bodies and muscles need to be moved not to atrophy and decay.

Movement sparks life and growth.

And truthfully, a vast majority of our mental challenges like depression, discouragement, and low self-esteem can be MASSIVELY improved upon by the simple act of moving our body daily.

“It is only possible to live happily ever after on a day-to-day basis.”  – Margaret Bonnano, American Writer

And that really speaks to the importance of daily action and making the small moments matter.

So…expect small, simple actions of yourself today, small enough that you are ENERGIZED TO GET INTO ACTION… not worn out by the mere thought.

You will feel better.

You will be happier.

And you set yourself up for exponentially greater joy in the future with each small positive action you take.
