Today I want to talk about one of the 12 pillars of a Truly Amazing Life that is a major stumbling block for many people.
There are ALL SORTS of issues surrounding this pillar, that lead us into vicious cycles that end up in discouragement, self-loathing, and depression.
But it doesn’t have to make you stumble.
This pillar can just as easily be a step up to amazing things in your daily life.
I’m talking about the pillar of ENJOY.
Are you enjoying your life?
Do you fully enjoy your body?
Do you enjoy the food you eat?
Our physical environment is packed with things to enjoy…but often we get sucked into despair and discouragement when it comes to the very things that should bring us joy.
I’m going to focus here on food and our bodies.
We are so bombarded by food that is addictive and unhealthy, we easily go overboard which leads to a host of problems.
And then we think we need to solve our ‘food’ issues with exercise.
But we don’t usually have a natural desire to go exercise.
For many reasons!
- Maybe it hurts.
- Maybe it’s boring.
- Maybe there’s just not enough time.
- Maybe we don’t like the mess.
- Maybe we’d much rather watch that show?
Whatever the reason…often exercise wasn’t what we wanted in the first place, we just wanted to enjoy that food.
Now we have all these negative consequences, like “I don’t feel good”, and “now I have to go work off those extra calories”.
There’s a better way.
But first you have to fix your mindset when it comes to food and your body.
Life is meant to be ENJOYED.
And our bodies and the food we put into them can and should be a major source of that joy.
And what happens when we don’t take proper care of our body?
It usually cascades into a destructive pattern that inhibits us from living all of the other 12 pillars of a truly amazing life.
(Give, love, remember, grow, etc.)
Because when our body doesn’t feel good, our mind stops feeling good, and then it’s a tough battle to do any good at that point.
So what’s the solution?
Get your mind and your habits about your body fixed FIRST
And you will see an improvement that cascades into amazing benefits for all other areas of your life.
You simply can’t just go around avoiding your body or suppressing its needs and expect to live a joy-filled, truly amazing life.
It’s not going to happen.
And the first thing I believe you should focus on is to MOVE your body.
Why do I suggest that before focusing on the food you put into your body?
Well, the two should go hand in hand really…and in fact, it’s probably more beneficial to your health and well-being to eat healthy, than it is to exercise (I don’t know that for sure)…
…but here are the reasons MOVING comes first in my book:
- It’s easier
- It requires less thought
- It’s naturally meditative
- Moving your body naturally lifts the mood
- It produces endorphins that make you feel good
- These endorphins make you naturally want to treat yourself more lovingly, which also means naturally eating more healthy food.
- Moving your body is like a jump start to your life.
Food is also super important…I just think moving your body comes first.
The habit of MOVING your body daily is an essential habit to living a Truly Amazing Life.
